About

I'm Greg. I build software, and I've been doing it long enough to have opinions about how it should be built — and a healthy suspicion of most of those opinions, including my own.

This site is where the opinions go. Mostly that means engineering practice: the tools, the trade-offs, the ways things break and the ways we pretend they won't. Sometimes it means the industry around the work — what's changing, what's hype, and what's just wearing a new name. Occasionally it'll be something else entirely.

I write here rather than on a platform because I'd like the words to still be where I put them in ten years. Everything is plain text in a git repo; there's no tracking, no comments, and nothing to sign up for. If you want to follow along, the RSS feed is the whole subscription model.

The best way is LinkedIn. Send a message or a connection request — I read everything, and I reply to most of it.
